Recovery Day

A couple of gas related cry outs through the night, but all in all not too bad. We all had a big sleep in after yesterday's festivities - until 8:30.

Jude hurt his little mouth today. Poor little bugger. He was farting around under the table and then he got jammed - after extricating him, we noticed that he was bleeding from his mouth.It looks like he whacked his teeth through the inside of his lip. We got a drink into him and gave him some panadol (it's a life saver!) and he calmed down enough to have a rest. He woke up in much better spirits, and even had a play with some of his new birthday presents! :)

We then went to nannies for dinner, and he had more plays over there too.

First Birthday

It's Jude's first birthday today.

I still can't believe how fast time has gone. He's such a little rascal, always chasing the cats and being a naughty! That being said, he's slept through since about 6 weeks old. He's a super kid.

I really hope that I can create some good memories of times that we spend together. I suspect that he probably wont remember much before his 5th birthday once he's an adult (I only barely remember primary school!), but I've been putting together a book of all of the memories of his first year. There are some cool things in there, along with all the cards and such that he's got since he was born.

We have another one due in about 4 months - So I'm going to enjoy having one small person to look after as long as possible - it's going to be fun with two! :P

a big day..

It's a bit of a surreal experience writing in your own son's birthday card. All I'd ever got was a"Dear dj_flange" "Love Dad". Pretty damned shite if you ask me. Both Rach and I have been making an effort to keep all of the things Jude gets while he's growing up - things like birthday cards, the cards he got when he was born, other bits and pieces - in a big box, so that he can always have a look back when he gets old enough to be interested.

So I wrote a heartfelt message from Rach and I, and I'm hoping that he will read it some day in the future.

Jude had a pretty good day all in all - I went for a haircut in the morning, and we had brekky out - Jude went for a sleep about 11am - and then the hordes arrived at about 1:30 or so. Some where happier than others and I was a bit disappointed that there were people who couldn't just be happy for the little fella - he shouldn't be involved in all the crapola. Very selfish and frustrating.

Most people left around 5ish, and we had a few stay back, we watched a bit of telly, and Rach's mum took Jude with her so he could calm down a bit - so much chocolate cake and fizzy drink isnt good for the little guys body. :) We ended up bringing him home around 10pm, he'd only just fallen asleep.

Drama? Surely not!

Ah yes, it's all happening.

Big shitfight at work, i'm not too phased about it! :) If a server crashes, what can you do?

We were supposed to go out for dinner tonight for small's birthday - but I dont think so anymore. That's ok, i'm becoming more of a home body now.

I spent a few hours today chatting to Mike Roberts - I havent spoken to him for ages! It's good to catch up with people every now and then..

Only one more week of work, then it's off cruising on holidays! I cant wait!

and I am just about to send the resume through.

There aint much to it, but I figure that less is more. They know who I am, and what I'm capable of. I might not be so good to go with the full-time thing from the start. I might need to go for a contract. Time will tell.

I'm just hoping that JA doesn't leave - He seems like a really good guy to work for (with?) - I guess we will see how that goes too.

Jude's birthday party organisation is going well - Rach got a bigger tax return than she thought, so we are just going to buy a bunch of food, rather than get up Sat morning at 6am and start cooking/preparation. joy!

I've been pretty flat out - working. Who would have thought it?

Anyway, since the last post, I've got my resume together now. And I've got to wander out of the office to call the recruiter to see if he can still put me forward for that position.

Been flat out at the client site, still trying to get my application release into UAT - pretty bloody useless really, spent 3 of the past 5 work days out there, for essentially no progress. bummer.

My resume is pretty crappy, but it does the job. I figure that I know the guys who would most likely be doing the interview, so it's not so critical that it looks particularly good. I should go and do a degree in graphic design or something! :P

Jude is just about to turn one, this Friday it is. It's pretty bloody scary that he's already one year old, but I'm managing to cope alright with it! I'm going to get him a 'my first Footy', which is a little football made of foam with a bell in it! Funky as!!

The battle of the bulge continues, although I didn't catch a taxi to the train station (or home) all week last week, I figure that I'm doing pretty well on that score. I did kick the soccer ball a bit on the weekend, but ended up stopping when I had spasms in the back. Bad. Although I'm sure my physio is good with it.

I also found out that I'll be giving a presentation to the monthly meeting about that project that I've been involved in for the past 3 years. Sounds like fun, although they don't really have a clue that I'm intending to leave. What can you do eh?! :)

The Chat...

Had a chat with the Melbourne branch manager today.

How interesting, discussed the reasons why i had been 'moved back'... :/ not much fun really...

This really sucks, because now _I_ have to be the one to work my way out of the current funk that I'm in - After 4.5 years of slaving away for this company, it's now my responsibility to get my shit together.

If i could choose which projects to move onto, i'm sure that i would have by now. Who chooses them? the same person who allocated me to Support for the last 12 months. Fucking fantastic.

First Post for Jude

The aim of this blog is to note down memories for Jude - It's going to be pretty much from my point of view, but hopefully something that the little fella can take with him when he gets older, and has his own kids.

Unfortunately, I don't have any contact with my parents any more (that's not a story for this blog), so I sometimes feel that I don't really know terribly much about myself, and certainly not a lot about when I was younger...

Resume..

So, I was out at a client site yesterday - and they are still hassling me to apply for the job.

I've got to get my resume done today - It's going to be a bit of hard slog, but I'll get around to it.

It turns out that Mr Gatt is also looking for a new job - Somewhere in Vic Govt looking after Sun servers. It must be an attractive package, is all that I have to say about that. I'm wondering if they are going to call me for a reference? I think I'll have to use Pete as my reference! :) Love it.

Anyway, pretty much the whole day was a bust yesterday, waiting for another Vendor to come back with some technical answers - and waiting for the client to send us the exported data - so we can test it here.

The Weekend...

This weekend was pretty big actually - considering that on Thursday, we had pretty much no plans at all.

Friday night, we managed to handball Jude off to Nan, and Rach and I went to Reubens and Paula's place - That was great actually, just sitting around chatting, having pizza. Unfortunately I didnt get a chance to spin the discs again - My back was dodgy enough that it would have been a farce anyway. I'm trying to talk Ruby into letting me dj at his club! :P hahahahaha...

Saturday was pretty cruisy - We didn't going until about 9am, and chilled out most of the day - Until I remembered that it was Guyman's birthday - We called him a couple of times before he answered - as per usual. Luckily (for us!) his parents has cancelled on his original birthday plans (huh?!) - So we cruised down to his place, picked him up - and got Mike and Kylie over for a nice low key impromptu birthday dinner. We even had a cake with candles (although no photos forthcoming). It was funny to look back through my old photos, seeing as Mike and Guy were pretty much involved in all of them. Good times, a long time ago! :)

Guyman also joined the ranks of those with a mortgage - grey hair isn't far away, methinks! :P He bought himself a 2 bed unit in Preston. Looks pretty good to me. Now he just has to wait for the people who own it to move out. He's renting it to them for a few months (i gather so that they can find somewhere to live!).

That ended up finishing about 1am, and Jude woke up pretty early - So I got up and let Rach have a sleep in. I did a bunch of housework (well, I stacked the dishwasher 3 times!), and did a couple of loads of clothes washing too. I think Rach is sus on me for doing so much housework. Fortunately the 2nd final between Australia and Pakistan was on Sunday night too - Maybe that's why i went hardcore on the cleaning in the morning! :P

So ended the weekend - except for the 90 minute CSI which meant we didnt get to bed until 11:30! :)
